Terms of Service
Last updated 14 July 2026 · BarnPilot Equestrian
These are the terms for using BarnPilot. By using the app you agree to them. We have tried to write them in plain English, because terms nobody can read are terms nobody has agreed to.
The one that matters most. BarnPilot is not a veterinarian, a farrier, a trainer or a background check service. It is a record and a reminder. Every decision about your horse remains yours, made with the professionals who have actually put their hands on him.
Your account
You need an account to use BarnPilot, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Give us accurate information and keep your sign in details to yourself. You must be at least 13 years old, and if you are under 18 you need a parent or guardian to agree to these terms with you.
Your content is yours
Your horses, your photos, your videos, your records and your notes belong to you. Not to us. You give us permission to store and process that content only so we can provide the app to you: show it back to you, back it up, and analyse a document when you specifically ask us to. That is the whole of it. We do not use your content to advertise to you, we do not sell it, and we do not hand it to anyone else except the service providers listed in our privacy policy, who work on our instructions.
Only upload things you have the right to upload. If a photograph of your horse was taken by a professional photographer, the photographer usually owns that photograph even though it is your horse in it.
What BarnPilot is not
This section is not lawyerly throat clearing. It is the actual design of the product.
- It is not veterinary advice. BarnPilot does not diagnose, treat or grade your horse, and it will not tell you whether he is sound or fit to work. When it reads a vet record or an X-ray you uploaded, it describes what that document says so you can ask better questions. It has never touched your horse. Your veterinarian has. Always consult them.
- It does not decide how long a horse rests. A joint injection has a protocol and it is not ours to recite. Your vet says four days, you enter four days, and we count them. We supply the field, never the medicine.
- Trainer and horse lookups are searches of public records. They are not background checks and not endorsements, and a clean result is not a character reference. Confirm anything that matters directly with USEF or the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
- Weather advice is guidance, not a guarantee. Forecasts are wrong sometimes, and the advice is only as good as the facts you gave us about your horse. Look out of the window and use your judgement.
- It is not an emergency service. If something is wrong with a horse, call your vet, not us.
Subscriptions and payment
BarnPilot is free to start. Some features require a paid subscription, sold and billed through Apple. Payment is taken by Apple under their terms, and subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them. Cancel in Settings on your iPhone: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then BarnPilot. We cannot cancel or refund an Apple purchase from our side, though we are happy to help you find where to do it. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policy.
If we change prices we will tell you before it affects you.
Fair use
Do not use BarnPilot to break the law, harass anyone, upload someone else's private records, attack or overload the service, or scrape it. Do not use it to make claims about someone's SafeSport or competition record that the records do not support. If you do these things we may suspend the account.
Availability
We work hard to keep BarnPilot running and we cannot promise it will never be down. Things break, hosts have outages, and phones lose signal in barn aisles, which is exactly why the app saves your work on the device and sends it up when it can. Keep your own records of anything you genuinely cannot afford to lose.
Ending it
You can stop using BarnPilot and delete your account whenever you want, and your content goes with it. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we ever shut the service down, we will give you notice and a way to take your data with you.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, BarnPilot is provided as it is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited. Because we do not make decisions about your horse, we are not responsible for decisions made about your horse. That authority stays with you, your trainer and your vet, and so does the responsibility that comes with it.
Changes
If we change these terms we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
